Description

A rare chance, in the company of an expert, to handle and find out more about Europe's largest collection of 7th century coloured window glass from Bede's Wearmouth-Jarrow Monastery, followed by working with a local artist to create your own piece of contemporary glass art.


Terms & Conditions

The participant(s) must be aged over 16.

The winner is responsible for the arrangement and cost of travel.

The lot will be taken no later than 12 months after the end of the auction on a day and at a time to be arranged between the winner and Bede's World & the National Glass Centre, must be booked two weeks in advance and must take place during normal opening hours, but not on public holidays.

This activity takes place in two locations: Bede’s World, Jarrow and the National Glass Centre, Sunderland. Winner will be responsible for travel arrangements to, from and between the two locations.

This lot cannot be publicly resold without the permission of TopLots but can be offered as a gift.

The TopLots Heritage Auction is a fundraising event organised by the Association of Independent Museums (Registered Charity: 1082215) acting as the agent for arts and heritage organisations across the UK. Delivery of this lot, as described, to the winner is the responsibility of Bede's World & the National Glass Centre which will receive (after direct transaction and listing costs) 80% of the winning bid. The remaining 20% is retained by the Association of Independent Museums (AIM) to cover the administrative costs of running the TopLots auction.


Additional Information

Bede's World is a museum based around the extra-ordinary life and work of the Venerable Bede (AD673-735) early Medieval Europe's greatest scholar and England's first historian.

Bede's World's attractions include an interactive exhibition in our stunning museum and an Anglo-Saxon demonstration farm, which brings together the animals, timber buildings, crops and vegetables that would of featured in the Northumbrian Landscape of Bede's Day. Bede's World also has a Medieval herb garden, gift shop, cafe and a lively and wide ranging programme of events and temporary exhibitions.
